Overview

2022 is a big year for our business. We’re looking for an exceptional Head Chef to lead our next period of growth with a focus on managing the team and leading our standards throughout the kitchen.

Working with some of the best suppliers in the region we’re hugely passionate about what we do and are looking for an experienced and ambitious Head Chef to develop our team and deliver our menu at the volume we aspire to achieve.

Salary package

  • £45k OTE (includes Salary, Service/Tips, Bonus scheme)

  • Starting salary between £32k and £34k dependent on experience 

  • A share of the service charge and tips (c.£3.2kpa)

  • Weekly bonus scheme based on sales and kitchen inspections (Up to £7.8kpa)

Experience and background

  • Kitchen Management: deliver the standards, leadership & development of the kitchen team

  • Commercially Astute: manage costings, productivity, rota, margins

  • Volume and Quality: menu experience 150 to 200+ cover service

  • Planning and costing rotas for chefs, KPs

  • Maintaining a 5 star Food Safety and Hygiene standard

  • Experience of using Fourth a bonus 


Job details

  • Monthly pay

  • Manage a kitchen team of 7

  • 45 hours per week 

  • 2 days off together per week (e.g. Sunday and Monday)

  • includes evening and weekend work

  • 4 or 5 day block off during the Christmas closure

  • Holiday: 28 days’ paid annual leave a year

Reports to 

  • Reports to: Group General Manager

  • You will also have close involvement with the two business owners


Works closely with

  • Our sister business Bath Pizza Co and their kitchen team

  • You will have a collaborative approach building excellent relationships with our front of house team and management 

  • You will meet and build relationships with our existing suppliers and new ones

  • 90 cover steakhouse and jazz bar in Bath with 2 additional terraces (250 cover potential)

  • Serving excellent local produce from the South West (fish, chicken, beef etc.)

  • Busy kitchen and bar with ambitious growth plans 

  • Well established, independent business in Bath of 29 years

  • Owned by Father and Son team

  • 4 nights of live jazz/funk/soul/swing every week

  • City center location in the historic old Green Park Station 


About you

  • Ambitious and experienced chef looking for a new Head Chef role or making the step up to Head Chef

  • Experienced in delivering volume and quality

  • Be bursting with ideas and energy to elevate our menu

  • Competent with HACCUPs and food safety and hygiene standards

  • Process focussed (Ordering/Stock control etc.)

  • Working to current menu framework and new plates for volume and specials


Further details

  • This role will have a 3 month probationary period at which point either party can give their immediate notice

  • Following a successful 3 months you will qualify for our bonus scheme

  • Quarterly reviews will take place to discuss your work, goals and targets
